The Way Out: text-only cartoons

Like radio-listeners, people who have to surf the internet with the graphics turned off need to use their imagination a lot. Happily there's one genre of cartoons—The Way Out, as made famous by Mr Barry Laughman—where all you need is the captions and the pictures pretty well draw themselves. Just try this sample for size:
  • Marcia soon found that Gerald's hobbies were more than she had bargained for.
  • How dogs learn to drive.
  • "I guess the little critters like it, though it beats me why."
  • Nick had tragically not noticed that the season had one more day to run.
  • What really happens if you step on a crack in the sidewalk.
  • Locust divorce.
  • Cecil's nightime practise-sessions were now beyond a joke.
  • "Sure, it'll take some getting used to, honey, but just think of all the eggs it'll lay."
