Good English

These pages look briefly at a few of the issues surrounding written style.

On one page I give a demonstration of how a piece of English can be improved. I take some help-text from an early version of Microsoft Internet Explorer, say why it is obscure and then show how the same ideas can be expressed more clearly. This is what my Good English project is principally about.

English spelling is a big problem and the page about it explains why, as well as how American attempts to reform it are a waste of time! There is also a proposal for phonetic spelling of English using without diacritics (e.g. accents). Be warned, though. The Roman alphabet is highly unsuited to English and the resulting system looks strange.
